What ZipServ is

ZipServ (zipserv.net) is a neighbor-recommendation platform for local home services. Homeowners recommend trusted local businesses — plumbers, HVAC techs, electricians, and more — and those recommendations become verified listings that other neighbors can find and request quotes from.

Information we collect

When you request a quote ("Get Free Quote")

We collect your name, phone number, ZIP code, and the service you need. We use this to connect you with a local business. We do not sell this information to third parties.

When you submit a recommendation

We collect your name, phone number, neighborhood, and the details of the business you recommend. This recommendation (your first name, neighborhood, and city/state) may be displayed publicly on the business's listing page to show your neighbors that a real person vouched for this service provider.

When you nominate a business

We collect your name, phone number, and the business details you provide. Nominations are reviewed by our team before any listing is created.

Automatically collected information

We collect anonymous usage data to improve the platform — including which ZIP codes and services people search for, how many results appear, and which pages are viewed. This data is linked to a randomly generated device ID stored in your browser's local storage (key: zip_device_id). This ID is never associated with your name or phone number unless you explicitly create an account.

We do not use tracking pixels, third-party ad networks, or behavioral advertising.

How we use your information

  • To connect you with local businesses when you request a quote
  • To verify and publish neighbor recommendations
  • To improve the platform — understanding which services are in demand by ZIP code
  • To contact you if there's an issue with your submission
  • We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent

How we share your information

When you request a quote, we share your name, phone number, and service details with the business you're requesting from. That's it. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with data brokers, advertisers, or unrelated third parties.

We use the following services to operate ZipServ:

  • Twilio — for SMS notifications
  • MongoDB Atlas — secure cloud database
  • Railway — hosting provider

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data processing practices.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as it's needed to provide the service. If you'd like your data removed, email us at support@zipserv.net and we'll delete it within 30 days.

Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in to the admin panel. We store a randomly generated device ID in your browser's local storage for analytics purposes. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Email us at support@zipserv.net.
